Nicollet Island |
| Quaint Bohemian Enclave The first settlers on Nicollet Island were John Wesley North and his wife, Anne Loomis North. John was a lawyer and the "Father of Minnesota's Republican Party". Having stood witness to over a century of change on the Mississippi River's storied shores—some subtle and some dramatic, some gentle and some turbulent—the Nicollet Island Inn is now one of the few buildings that remembers the earliest days of development on Minneapolis's Nicollet Island. We are passionate about the history of Nicollet Island and hope you enjoy the historical fun facts we share with you here. |
